Introducing Export Naming Schemes

Introduction

When exporting data from Codeit each variable or column exported needs to be given a name.
Different clients have different requirements when it comes to generating these variable names.
To provide flexibility and support these various requirements, Codeit allows you to choose an "Export Naming Scheme" for your project.
The scheme you select will control the column headers on any export files you produce and the variable names used when writing back to an external system via a data link.

The Export Naming Schemes available are as follows:

Name Summary
Export Naming Scheme A - For variables imported into Codeit, the original labels will be retained and reapplied on export.
- For variables created by Codeit the following naming conventions will be used:
  • File Export: Default Codeit Export Naming Scheme, see here.
  • Decipher: "Expanded Variables" Writeback, see here.
  • Decipher "Dichotomous Variables" Writeback, see here.
Export Naming Scheme B For variables imported into Codeit, the original labels will be retained and reapplied on export.
- For variables created by Codeit the following naming conventions will be used:
  • File Export: Default Codeit Export Naming Scheme, see here.
  • Decipher: "Expanded Variables" Writeback, Default Codeit Export Naming Scheme, see here.
  • Decipher "Dichotomous Variables" Writeback, see here.

You can set the naming scheme for a given project at any time via the Admin settings in Codeit.
You can also set a company default for all new projects, using the "Company Settings" section within Admin.
