Using the Export Wizard

Introduction

The Export Wizard helps you to export the type of data you're looking to export quickly and easily. This document provides a short guide on how to use this feature.

The Export Wizard

The Export Wizard allows you to export the types of data Codeit supports for export, which are records, statistics, and codeframes, all in one convenient location and through an intuitive and easy-to-use wizard. The export process for the three data types mentioned above are detailed below.

Option 1 - Exporting Records

This option allows you to export records to a range of export formats which currently include:

In this step, you have the option to specify which wave you want to export records from, which tasks/variables you want to include in the export, and whether you want to export all records or flagged records.

This step deals with the variable-level options you have when exporting records, and allows you to:

Please note that settings here do not overwrite what is already defined in the variable settings in the Admin section. The settings here simply override the default variable settings for a particular export session. Additionally, you will only have the option to specify display and multicode formats when exporting in Comma Separated (CSV) format.

Option 2 - Exporting Statistics

Similarly to the records option, the statistics option allows you to select the wave, tasks/variables and format of your export. However, you now have the option to select the type of report you want to export, of which there are three types: progress, productivity, and consistency.

Additionally, you can also export the statistics in Business Intelligence (BI) format for tools such as Microsoft PowerBI.

In order to display the information contained in the exported file, you will need Microsoft Power BI, which you can find here, and an additional template file. To obtain this template file, please contact us at info@digitaltaxonomy.co.uk.

Upon opening the template file, you will be presented with the following screen in Power BI where you need to enter the path to the unzipped folder in the pDataPath field:

You can then have access to a Microsoft PowerBI template with all the Codeit stats available. For example, the visualization below shows the progress of a specific project over time:

Option 3 - Exporting Codeframes

This option allows you to export codeframes in two export types:

Similarly to the statistics export option, the codeframes export option includes no further steps and exports the data with the specified options upon clicking the 'Export' button if successful.

Option 4 - Records and Text Analytics

This option allows you to export records and text analytics data in Business Intelligence (BI) format for viewing in an external viewer, i.e. Microsoft Power BI. Before exporting records and text analytics data, please ensure you have switched on the 'Attach Segments' option for the source variable in the Admin section.

In order to display the information contained in the exported file, you will need Microsoft Power BI, which you can find here, and an additional template file. To obtain this template file, please contact us at info@digitaltaxonomy.co.uk.

Upon opening the template file, you will be presented with this screen in Power BI:

In the field marked "pDataPath", please enter the file path for the folder containing your unzipped export file. After entering the file path, click the 'Load' button and wait for the data to load; this may take some time depending on the size of your exported data. Upon loading, your exported data will be able to be viewed and interacted with. An example of the 'Sentiment Overview' screen is displayed below.
